National teams of players from Kielce qualified for EHF EURO 2020!

Three teams with players of PGE VIVE Kielce can already celebrate their participation in the EHF EURO 2020. In addition to Spain, which is guaranteed to compete in the final tournament due to winning the European Championship 2018, the tournament will also include Slovenian and Croatian national teams. Due to Saturday's victory over Poland, also Germans ensured their participation in the next year’s championships of the Old Continent, and among them the future goalkeeper of PGE VIVE Kielce, Andreas Wolff.

Poles, after an average match in Gliwice, lost 18:26, presented quite a good level of game during rematch and during away game they lost to Germans only 24:29, drawing 16:16 until the break, even leading momentarily during the first half with four goals. In both meetings, Mateusz Kornecki, who will be the goalkeeper of PGE VIVE Kielce starting next season, presented an amazing attitude between the goal posts. During the rematch in Halle also our wing player Arkadiusz Moryto was more visible, who in the first meeting was hardly "involved” by his colleagues from the court. Arek scored four goals in this game. In the German team, Silvio Heinevetter was the goal-keeper throughout the game, and Andreas Wolff entered the court only for the penalty shot.

I think the result was influenced by the first ten minutes of the match, during which we lost some goals. During the whole match we should be encouraged by the style of play, we played better in the attack than in Gliwice, we didn’t make so many mistakes – Arkadiusz Moryto comments – We want to be better and better with each subsequent camp.

Thanks to the Saturday’s victory over the Polish team, Christian Prokop's players have already secured themselves a place in the final tournament of the EHF EURO 2020. Poles have now dropped to third place in the group, but are still fighting for qualification to the championships. They have already played matches with the most difficult rival, in June they will have to defeat Kosovo and Israel.

The Croatians, just like the Germans, secured themselves a place in the final tournament after the fourth match of the elimination for the EHF EURO 2020. During the games in April they faced Serbia twice. The first match ended in a draw 25:25, and the Croatians won the second one by four goals 27:23. Both goalkeepers from PGE VIVE Kielce, Filip Ivić from Croatia and Vladimir Cupara from Serbia, presented themselves well and Marko Mamić scored 7 goals in total during two games.

Matches in April were also great for the Slovenians. Blaz Janc's team also secured for themselves the qualification to the EHF EURO 2020, by winning two matches with the Netherlands. The first of them was very matched and ended with a minimal victory for Slovenia 27:26. Blaz Janc scored 9 goals in this game! The second match was calmer, the players of Veselin Vujović defeated their rivals 30:23, and our wing player added 3 goals to his account.

The team of Arciom Karalok and Uladzislau Kulesh coped with varying degree of success. The Belarusians first beat the Czechs 31:30 during an away game and then lost the home match with rivals 24:26. In the two-legged tie our pivot scored a total of 8 goals, and the back-court player 4. Belarusians currently rank third in the group with two points of loss to second place. In June, they will face Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Finland.
