Julen Aginagalde has extended his contract with PGE VIVE Kielce!

Another great transfer news for our fans! Julen Aginagalde decided to stay in Kielce for another year. The friendly Basque has extended his contract with the club until the end of the 2019/20 season. This will be the last year Julen is going to spend in our club.

Julen Aginagalde joined the PGE VIVE Kielce team in 2013, just after the season in which, together with the Spanish team, he became the world champion. This is the sixth season of the player in Kielce and he has just decided to stay in our club for another year.

I had a conversation about it two years ago, I know that there is still one year to contract Nicolas Tournat, so I decided to stay in the club – Julen Aginagalde says – I'm sure it will be my last season here, during which I will continue to create a duo with Arciom Karalok. He is a great, young player and I will do everything I can to support him in his development, and even though I am already 36 years old, I can still learn a lot from him. Both my family and I, we feel very well in Kielce, this city is like a home to us, so I think that staying here for another year is a great option for all of us.

Julen Aginagalde is the world champion from 2013, the bronze medalist of these competitions from 2011, the champion, the vice-champion and the bronze medalist of the European Championships from 2018, 2016, 2014, respectively. Repeatedly awarded individually, he is, among others, the best pivot of the Olympic Games in London (2012), World Championships in Spain (2013) and European Championships in Denmark (2014) and Poland (2016). It was Julen who made the last penalty shot during the historic final of the Champions League in 2016, which gave PGE VIVE Kielce victory over Telekom Veszprem HC.

I am very happy that a player of this class decided to stay in the club – President Bertus Servaas comments – It is an honor and a proof that together we create a team in which everyone feels good and for which we still want to fight for the highest goals.

Julen is another player who recently decided to extend his contract with PGE VIVE. In December, Alex Dujshebaev decided to stay in Kielce until 2022, and before that, Mateusz Jachlewski decided to extend his contract for one more season, until 2020.
