VISIT POLAND
I came to Poland almost 11 years ago, and the then president of the club, Bertus Servaas, set me one goal - to build the best team in Europe. And we succeeded, in 2016 we won the Champions League in beautiful circumstances, then we were very close to it in 2022 and 2023. Thanks to handball, Kielce found itself on the map of Europe and the world. It is thanks to handball that clubs such as FC Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain, THW Kiel and Veszprem, which every sports fan in Europe knows, come to Kielce. And we still beat them.
Kielce became my home, and Industria Kielce my club, I feel responsible for it. In Kielce and Poland I found peace and life balance. This is really important in professional sports. Over these 11 years, I managed to get to know Poland really well. Let’s get to know Poland better - says Talant Dujshebaev, coach of Industria Kielce.
Handball clubs all over Europe are located in smaller towns. Thanks to this, fans who come from abroad to watch international matches have the opportunity to discover unusual places that are worth exploring. Kielce is an example of this. It is a small city that has everything that not only athletes but also tourists need. A good hotel base, attractive sightseeing areas, interesting monuments and good access from Warsaw or Krakow.
Krakow is the former capital of Poland, and the Wawel Royal Castle was the seat of Polish kings for centuries. There are many characteristic points of this city, but let's pay attention to the Market Square. This is the largest market square in Europe, and in the middle of the market square there is a building. This is the Cloth Hall, in the Middle Ages it was what we would call a shopping mall today. The market square in Wrocław is also beautiful, it is worth seeing both and comparing them. In Krakow, another important point is the Wawel Royal Castle. This is the seat of Polish kings, who resided there for hundreds of years. It is worth noting that - unlike other medieval cities - the market square is not located by the castle. This is a characteristic feature of Krakow, and historians call this phenomenon "a city located with its back to the castle".
Kielce is the capital of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. The city is located 170 km from Warsaw and 120 km from Krakow. Thanks to this, it is easy and efficient to get here. And not only by private car, but also by public transport - train or bus.
Kielce has an area of approx. 110 square kilometers. It is hard to believe, but it is a few kilometers larger than... Barcelona or Paris. There are as many as five nature reserves - Kadzielnia, Wietrznia, Ślichowice, Biesak-Białogon and Karczówka.
A few minutes' walk from Kadzielnia is the Stanisław Staszic City Park, and further on the Castle Hill with the Palace of the Krakow Bishops. This park is one of the oldest of its kind in Polish cities, as it was created in the 18th century as part of a palace complex.
Area larger than Barcelona and Paris, you will find here five nature reserves, a city center with a charming promenade, many attractive places to see, but also an excellent handball team. Get to know Kielce!
